Lauren Haas - Abercrombie & Fitch
Year: CAS '12
Major: Political Science with a concentration in International Relations, Minor: Spanish
Prior Internship Experience: Urban Outfitters (Creative Department)- Philadelphia Headquarters; Commonwealth Proper- Philadelphia (I have also worked in an Anthropologie store- but that's obviously not an 'internship')
Current internship: I found this internship through on-campus recruiting.  The OCR office informed me that Abercrombie attends career fairs at Penn, so I decided to go to the career fair and meet their representatives.  Meeting Abercrombie employees at the career fair, and later during my interviews, swayed me to intern with this company.  They seemed organized and professional yet friendly, casual and fun, and the program was incredibly well-structured. Additionally, the company is doing very well despite a challenging retail environment, another factor that helped me to make my decision work there.
Activities at UPENN: Dzine2Show, Alpha Chi Omega
Interests: Music, art, reading, running, tennis, being outdoors

Nanette Nunu - Alchemie Forever
Year: Wharton '14
Major: Marketing, and possibly Retail or Communications
Prior Internship Experience: Event Production and Retail
Current Internship: Hi, I'm Nanette Nunu, and this summer I'll be interning at Alchimie Forever, a cosmetics company in Georgetown, Washington DC. I have had internships in event production and retail before, and the major reason why I took the internship with Alchimie is to gain exposure to another facet of retail other than my prior internship with a clothing company. l'm excited to be in the heart of DC learning all about what it takes to run a business. I hope to own a cosmetics or clothing company of my own in the future and I am more than certain that this will be a great start. It's going to be an amazing next three months and I hope to write all about it here!
Interests:  I'm interested in retail primarily because like any girl, I love to shop and as I get older I have become more and more interested in the behind the scenes work of clothing distributors and the occupations of brand managers. I also have a lot of interest in event production and through Alchimie Forever, I will be able to work on product launches, galas, and many other events throughout the summer.

Marlena Filipowska - Li & Fung
Year: WH'12
Major: OPIM & Retailing
Prior Internship Experience: Ross Stores Inc. (Planning Internship 2010)
Current internship: This summer I will be working at Li & Fung USA as a production intern within Kid Headquarters. I was connected with LF USA recruiters through the YMA (Young Menswear Association) after being named one of their Fashion Scholarship Fund Scholars in January. Part of the award is help with internship placement, so I was able to send in my resume directly and got invited for an interview in NYC. While I was slightly blindsided after an extremely short interview (2 interviews in less than 15 minutes!), I was incredibly impressed with the company's century-long history of success, several recent acquisitions in the US and global reach within the retail industry. To top it all off, I was lucky enough to meet Rick Darling (LF USA President) at the Wharton Retail Conference, and he made me feel so welcome and spoke with such passion about his business, I knew I'd love interning at LF!
Activities at UPENN: Wharton Retail Club, Penn Fashion Week, Penn Model Congress
Interests: Skiing, art history, travel, retail, fashion, film, baking

Mckenzie Harper - Victoria's Secret
Year: WH'12
Major: Business with concentrations in Marketing and Operations & Information Management
Prior Internship Experience: Jil Sander America (Summer 2010), Victoria’s Secret (Summer 2011)
Current internship: I found the Victoria’s Secret internship by speaking with Lori Greeley, CEO of Victoria’s Secret and keynote speaker of this year’s Wharton Women Business Conference. She touched on the company’s social impact initiatives during her speech, such as their effort to source cotton from a village in Africa to support the people, and it got me thinking about how Victoria’s Secret can expand these initiatives. I briefly mentioned my ideas to Lori after the conference, and she suggested that we schedule a phone conference with me, her, and the VP of Marketing. At the end of our phone conference, she put me in touch with the HR representatives at Victoria’s Secret and I had an interview with two representatives from the marketing department. I definitely found this internship in a roundabout way, but even so, it was a very easy and enjoyable process. I am really impressed with how willing Victoria’s Secret is to hear students’ ideas!
Activities at UPENN: Wharton Retail Club, Dzine2Show, TOMS Club at Penn, Penn Microfinance
Interests: Music, Running, Cooking, Sewing, Discovering new cities

Alex Enny - Marc Jacobs Intl
Year: CAS '13
Major: Economics
Minor:
Chinese
Prior Internship Experience
: None. I have retail experience from working at Abercrombie and Fitch and abercrombie stores, but this is my first internship.
Current internship:
One of my sisters in my sorority had worked at Marc Jacobs two years ago and she was kind enough to pass my resume along to HR. I received an email from the Business Planning Department and followed up with a phone interview. At the same time I had been applying to a bunch of fashion PR firms in NYC as well, and was actually set up to work with one of them for the summer. Being that the Marc internship was based in Business Planning, which is much more relevant to my major than PR, I decided to go with Marc. (He's also by far my favorite designer, so that made the decision very biased).
Activities at UPENN:
Girl Scouts at Penn, West Philly Tutoring Project, Panhel
Interests:
Shopping, exploring cities, trying new food, Lady Gaga.

Erin Silk - Target
Year: Wharton '12
Hometown: Boulder, CO
Concentration: Operations & Information Management
Minor: International Development
Prior Internship Experience: This is my first internship in retail! I have spent the last two summers working in a research position for a creative services agency, and studying abroad in Brazil.
Current Internship: I applied online for the Target merchandise planning business analyst internship program, and had two phone interviews. After learning more about Minneapolis and talking to Penn students who had participated in the program, I was convinced this would be a great learning experience for the summer. I expressed interest in working in the grocery division, because of my interest in the food industry and Target's recent strategic push to include perishable "fresh" food items in more stores. I will be working on an inventory management project in the produce division this summer!
Activities at UPenn: Social Impact Consulting Group, Quaker Notes All-Female A Cappella Group, Campus Tour Guide
Interests: Modern Art, Yoga, Hiking, Skiing, Baking, Foreign Languages

Lennie Zhu - Jil Sander
Year: Wharton '14
Concentration: Undecided- most likely OPIM and Entrepreneurship.
Prior Internship Experience: Externship at Emodues in Guangzhou, China. Non-fashion related: Southern Television in Guangzhou, China.
Current internship: I heard about this internship when speaking with Jil Sander's previous intern (Mckenzie Harper) while on a Saks Fifth Avenue career trek. I had been pursuing multiple other internships at the time, such as with URBN and Artco, but Jil Sander's reputation of course led me to focus my efforts upon it. I sent in a cover letter and my resume, and, with the help of Mckenzie's recommendation, I was given an interview. After speaking with the Womenswear Account Executive about what my responsibilities and opportunities would be, I was impressed by the amount of substantial support I would be providing to Jil Sander, and enthusiastically accepted their offer.
Activities at UPENN: The WALK Magazine, Wharton Retail Club, Dzine 2 Show, Delta Sigma Pi
Interests: Fashion, art, music, literature

Keri Taub - Bloomingdale's
Year: CAS '12
Major: Major in Economics, Minor in Consumer Psychology
Prior Internship Experience: Marc Jacobs LLC (Summer 2009), Time Inc. (Summer 2010), Bloomingdale's (Summer 2011)
Current internship: I found the Bloomingdale's internship through OCR at Penn.  I went to an information session, one on-campus interview, and one interview in New York at their Executive Office before I was offered the position.  I will be interning in the Integrated Marketing Dept. which involves integrating outside products into the Bloomingdale's brand in order to create events, promotions, and exciting opportunities for Bloomingdale's customers.  There is also an intensive company-wide internship program - including seminars, projects, and speakers - that I'm looking forward to taking part in.
Activities at UPENN: Chi Omega, Big Brothers Big Sisters, MUSE, Wharton Retail Club, Wharton Women, Undergraduate Sports Business Club, Art Club
Interests: painting and drawing, watching baseball, playing tennis, being outside, reading

Julia Wu - TJX
Year: CAS '13
Major: Double Major in Economics and Communications
Prior Internship/ Work Experience: Ivy Insiders (Summer 2010), BCBGMaxazria (Summer 2010)
Current internship:
I found the TJX internship through WRC; TJX sponsored one of our GBMs. The process involved an on-campus interview and an interview in the home office in Framingham, MA (right outside Boston). TJX scheduled and expensed the trip. The offer came soon after. Overall, it was an extremely rapid and fun recruiting process. I will be a merchandising intern on the buying side with women’s activewear, swim, and coats this summer. I will be exposed to many areas of the buying world—product mix creation, vendor visits, negotiations, product design. This will all come after a week long training process, paired with scavenger hunts, CEO visits, and additional training through out the summer. Because TJX is an off-price retailer, the buying experience will be very different than that of a typical retailer. I am also stoked to be working on a strategic business analysis project for my department!
Activities at UPENN: Phi Gamma Nu, WRC
Interests: vintage shopping, exploring cities, finding ‘Best-Ofs’, and hiking
